Salt Community Trust has run a FoodBank and MealBank to provide food parcels, and pre-prepared frozen meals to local families in need for many years, but during the Covid-19 lockdown of 2020, this moved to a whole new level, and was re-launched as Operation Reach.  

The Trust is a registered Essential Social Service Provider with the Ministry of Social Development, and funding from MSD, from the Auckland City Council Emergency Food Response Grant and from our local community has meant that we have been able to vastly increase our coverage  

The now includes the generous donation of time from an army of 75+ volunteers who assist us to unpack food pallets, create food parcels, hand deliver these to those in our community and provide follow up care.  

Operation Reach serves the needs of the Hibiscus Coast Community, including Millwater, Stillwater, Dairy Flat, Whangaparaoa Peninsula, Orewa, Hatfield's and Puhoi (pick up only) . Where there is a need, we will do our very best to meet it.  

We work with local schools, Police, Government Agencies, churches, community groups and other networks to support people in need.  

Recipients are from a wide social-economic spectrum, including those who have lost jobs due to Covid-19, are challenged by relationship breakdown, poverty, grief, or loss. It includes blended and extended families, solo parents, grandparents raising grandchildren, migrant groups and much more.
